Wide Open Space

Wide Open Space is an annual three-day contemporary arts, music and desert culture gathering situated in the East MacDonnell Range in Central Australia. Artists, performers and attendees from all over Australia trek to this remote location for an active engagement of ideas exchange, workshops, collaboration both in a programmed and spontaneous capacity.

The festival has grown into one of Australias “Boutique” showcases of underground arts, alongside a rich program of local Indigenous cultural content, set on one of the most beautiful event sites in Australia.

WOS has been running for 10 years and has generated strong outcomes for artists, musicians, artworkers and many local businesses.  $1.45million expenditure to NT businesses and a direct spend over over $300k into the NT Arts & Culture sector.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Creative development of an independent social enterprise with arts and tourism appeal.
  • Curating a 3 day immersive arts and music program (multiple stages and performance spaces)
  • Develop production and operation procedures and documentation
  • Implement marketing and media strategies both locally and nationally
  • Budget & Financial Management – including successfully applying and acquitting grants and managing operational budgets
  • Partnerships with a range of NT Govt agencies (Festivals NT, Tourism NT) and local arts and cultural organisations.
